The hunt is on to find 200 16- to 19-year-olds from Thurrock who are keen to gain vital business experience, learn new skills and find their way to an exciting career.

The second Next Top Boss challenge programme brings many of last year’s partner organisations together again to offer the participants a chance to learn, first hand, how business works, and to help both the business and the young people.



Thurrock’s Next Top Boss highly commended in enterprise competition

Next Top Boss has been announced as the runner up in this year’s Enterprising Britain regional competition in the East of England.


Destination Thurrock - contestants complete second Next Top Boss challenge!

There’s more to Thurrock than lorries and Lakeside – so say its young people who are competing in the Next Top Boss competition to put one of London’s lesser known but key neighbours on the map.

This week saw teams of 17-19 year olds compete in “Destination Thurrock” - a challenge to design ads and slogans to showcase Thurrock’s heritage and its growing economy. Teams have been out and about with cameras and camcorders capturing local landmarks and events including local festival T-Fest, in a race to come up with the best idea for selling Thurrock.


Next Top Boss - Get Branded!

17-19 year olds from across Thurrock and the surrounding area have come together for Brand Academy - the initial Next Top Boss challenge - to find out all about branding, what brands mean to us and say about us.

The challenge, which launched last month, looked at brands ranging from McDonalds to the Beckhams, and set teenagers the challenge of selecting a brand name and strapline, designing a logo and filming an advert for their teams.

The first Thurrock’s Next Top Boss challenge starts this month, and excitement is building as hundreds of teenagers team up for the competition.

The Next Top Boss team has been busy visiting youth groups, colleges, schools and shopping centres across Thurrock and beyond to recruit young people for the initiative, which is designed to help 17-19 year olds to develop skills, gain confidence and build the contacts they will need to gain a firm foothold on the career ladder and give them a springboard to success.


Danny joins the search for Thurrock’s Next Top Boss!

Paralympian Danny Crates, will be at Lakeside this week to recruit teenagers for the Next Top Boss challenge, the Thurrock-based initiative designed to open up career opportunities for 17-19 year olds.


Hope and Aspiration

Hope and aspiration! Two words that sum up Thurrock’s view of the future. 
In a bid to make Thurrock the place for business and to help put 1000 young people on the career ladder, organisations from across Thurrock and the Thames Gateway have joined forces to create an exciting year long programme to help find Britain’s “Next Top Boss: Made in Thurrock”.
