How do you win?

We’re looking for teams and individuals with real business potential.

You need get-up-and-go, enthusiasm and a real interest in business. We’re looking for problem solvers, ideas people and people who can play their part in a team.

But Next Top Boss is more than this – it’s a fun kind of competition.

You compete as a member of a team:
You compete against yourself and see how you can improve:
You compete with your ideas and how you present them:

We’ll be offering awards for five elements in the competition: four challenges and a blog charting your progress and involvement. The teams with the most points in each category will be winners, and one team will be chosen as overall winners.

Scoring criteria and weighting

How are the teams scored as they complete the challenges? We set out below the qualities the judges, businesses and youth engagement workers will be looking for as you work your way through the different challenges.

In general we are looking to see how teams make progress and perform against the following qualities of team work, effort and creativity.

We are looking in particular at:

Attitude - willingness to pay attention, to learn, to try);
Effort - trying hard to tackle a problem or to learn about a subject area, to explore different ideas and to take care with the presentation);
Quality of output - clarity of thought, well presented response, logic and argument, justification and reasoning, understanding the challenge;
Creativity - innovation and originality of ideas, techniques of presentation, business model etc);
Presentation - of ideas through workshops, the Just a Minute lunch, conveying ideas to Mentors through blogs or in workshop sessions, use of different media, clarity of thought, ability to communicate ideas, spelling and grammar as appropriate)
