Next Top Boss highly commended in enterprise competition

Next Top Boss, developed and run by Thurrock Thames Gateway Development Corporation, has today been announced as the runner up in this year’s Enterprising Britain regional competition in the East of England.

Now in its sixth year, the nationwide Enterprising Britain competition run by Enterprise UK rewards cities, villages, towns and neighbourhoods that have tackled the economic downturn head on and are successfully creating jobs, boosting local business and nurturing entrepreneurial talent as the UK emerges from recession.

Next Top Boss won a highly commended runner up recognition from the judging panel for its outstanding business engagement and the way it has brought young people and local businesses together in a way that has really helped to build Thurrock’s reputation.  They were also hugely impressed with the great marketing and impressively strong brand.

Commenting on the success of Next Top Boss Sheila Childerhouse, Deputy Chair of the East of England Development Agency said:

“We were hugely impressed with the energy and enthusiasm of the Thurrock team, their passion for the Next Top Boss competition and their achievements to date really shone through.
We are confident that their great example will encourage other organisations to do more to support entrepreneurial behaviour in the region that will continue to benefit generations to come.”

”We are thrilled with this commendation from Enterprise UK in the first year of Next Top Boss.  Our aim was always to work with organisations to help young people get on the career ladder, while promoting local business and the area.  Recognition at this level while the competition is ongoing is a great achievement and acknowledges the team work from our local businesses, colleges and all the young people involved with the project,” said Juliet Sychrava, Marketing Director, Thurrock Thames Gateway Development Corporation.
